Participants race 1 lap with and empty bike and then in the pit area they load the bike with one bundle of tied-up newspapers and 2 car tires.
The races are fast and furious but also a lot of fun. The day is really a celebration of the Copenhagen cargo bike culture. These cargo bike races were popular for decades in Copenhagen, pitting the bike messengers against each other to see who was fastest – and loudest! The last main race was held in 1960. In 2009, Firmacyklen.dk and Larry vs Harry started the modern area with the first Danish Championships in Cargo Bikes.
There will also be an exhibition area where you can try various cargo bikes and there will be beer from Ørsteds Ølbar and sausages/refreshments from Amager Cykle Ring [Cycling club].
